 We're here for a good time, not a long time

A very good friend of mine
Told me something the other day
I'd like to pass it in to you
Cause I believe what he said to be true
He said

We're here for a good time
Not a long time (not a long time)
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day

And the sun is shinin'
In this rainy city
And the sun is shinin'
Oooooh, isn't it a pity
And every year, has it's share of tears
And every now and then it's gotta rain

We're here for a good time
Not a long time
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day

And the sun is shinin'
In this rainy city
And the sun is shinin'
Oooooh, isn't it a pity
That every year, has it's share of tears
Every now and then it's gotta rain

We're here for a good time
Not a long time
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day

I want to dedicate this song to my 19 year old cousin, laid to rest just yesterday.  We are going to miss you!!

 and life goes on

Well I just have so much rattling around in the old bean tonight.... not sure how to channel it all and even though I am aware that I have sufficiently alienated myself from most people -  I do know that I am on my own with these thoughts....

I have spent some time with a family this week that is utterly and completely destroyed because of the sudden death of their son, brother, cousin, grandson..... he was such a cool kid and one that lit up any room he entered. I know they say that about everyone that dies - they are instantly put on this pedastal....... but in this case, he has always been everyone's favorite, everyone's "buddie" and I don't think he had an enemy on this earth.

I'm torn between mourning his loss and trying to help a neighour. My neighbour, a very good friend, was the first one on the scene. He spent 45 minutes laying on the ground, holding his hand, talking to him, distracting him, keeping him alive - while two trauma teams and an entire rescue unit worked to free his shattered body from the axel of a semi. It is hard to listen to his story and how he describes the scene and the conversations they had....... and yet he has to talk about it. And becasue he is a member of my  family, I'm not sure I need to know these details, and I'm not sure how much of it I should share with his parents or sister....... I don't know if they want to hear any of it.

His sister and parents were here today. They are coping. Today was another day for them and their lives are forever changed. My heart aches.

Life is so frail. I am reminded of these words: "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself." I worry too much about things that are not important.

 reflections

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will.

~~~
You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time.
~~~

You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.

~~~
You'll fight with your best friend.
~~~

You'll blame a new love for things an old one did.

~~~
You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love.
~~~

So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

~~~
Don't be afraid that your life will end,
be afraid that it will never begin.
 In loving memory
Thanks for all you've done
I've missed you for so long
I can't believe you're gone
You still live in me
I feel you in the wind
You guide me constantly
I've never knew what it was to be alone, no
Cause you were always there for me
You were always there waiting
And ill come home and I miss your face so
Smiling down on me
I close my eyes to see
And I know, you're a part of me
And it's your song that sets me free
I sing it while I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight cause it comforts me
I carry the things that remind me of you
In loving memory of
The one that was so true
Your were as kind as you could be
And even though you're gone
You still mean the world to me
I've never knew what it was to be alone, no
Cause you were always there for me
You were always there waiting
But now I come home and it's not the same, no
It feels empty and alone
I can't believe you're gone
And I know, you're a part of me
And it's your song that sets me free
I sing it while I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight cause it comforts me
I'm glad he set you free from sorrow
I'll still love you more tomorrow
And you will be here with me still
And what you did you did with feeling
And You always found the meaning
And you always will
And you always will
And you always will
Ooo's
And I know, you're a part of me
And it's your song that sets me free
I sing it while I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight cause it comforts me
